Hi, my name is Katie Sellmer. This is my 23rd year at St. John Paul II Catholic School where I have taught fourth grade and technology classes. Before coming to St. John Paul II Catholic School, I taught for four years at Sacred Heart School in Jeffersonville. I love being a part of the St. John Paul II Catholic School family.
I graduated from Ball State University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Social Studies Endorsement. In 2007, I
received my Masters of Education Degree from IUPUI in Technology
Leadership Education. In August 2021 I completed my coursework to
obtain my Building Level Administrator’s License through Marian
University in Indianapolis and completed my Principal's License in 2022.
I am so excited to be the JPII Assistant Principal and look
forward to the many new opportunities that are to come.
Catholic Education is very important to me. I was quite fortunate that my parents
were able to send me to Catholic Schools. I attended Sacred Heart School in
Jeffersonville and Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville. Both
schools taught me Christian values that I enjoy sharing with our students each
day.
I have been married to Jim Sellmer for 28 years. We currently live in Sellersburg
and are members of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. We have two children,
Jordan who graduated from IUPUI in 2021and is now teaching biology and
Earth/Space at Charlestown High School. Our daughter Catherine is a graduate of IUPUI with a degree in Psychology and is attending the University of Louisville for her graduate studies. Both of our children graduated from St. John Paul II Catholic School and attended Catholic high schools. We are so proud of their accomplishments! We love spending time with our St. John Paul II Family through many activities at
both church and school.
I feel quite blessed to be a part of the St. John Paul II family. It is a place that I
am proud that my family and I belong.
